Labour Inspectorate launches campaign to combat abuse of precarious contracts

Last month, the French Ministry of Labor, Health, Solidarity and Family Affairs published a practical guide for employees on fixed-term employment contracts, designed to provide key information on the main legal aspects of precarious contracts: form and content of the fixed-term contract, reasons for using it, maximum duration and termination procedures.

This publication is part of the 2023-2025 multi-year plan drawn up by the Administration, which guides the action of the Labour Inspectorate and ensures the coordination of all services and agents : noting an intensification in the use of short-term contras and practices to circumvent cases of recourse to precarious contracts, the Labour Inspectorate system has launched a national control campaign in 2025 relating to the fight against the abusive use of precarious contracts.

This campaign includes :

  • An information and awareness-raising phase, starting in April 2025,
  • A control phase based on targeting the companies that use the most precarious contracts. This will begin in June 2025 for a period of 6 months, and will continue with possible counter-inspections until May 2026, to enable companies to bring themselves into line with the regulations and remedy any infringements observed;
  • And a phase of assessment and evaluation of public action.

We are of course at your disposal to discuss your practices in relation to the use of precarious contracts, in the light of this publication.
